2006 Corcoran College of Art + Design BFA Senior Exhibitions at the Corcoran Gallery of Art

February 15, 2006–May 15, 2006

On view from February 15 through May 15, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC – With the 2006 BFA Senior Thesis Exhibitions, graduating seniors at the Corcoran College of Art + Design make the transition from students to professional artists as they formally exhibit their final projects in galleries of the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Featuring work by members of the class of 2006, the exhibitions will be on view from February 15 through May 15, 2006.

The 2006 BFA Senior Thesis Exhibitions consist of a series of week-long, rotating exhibitions featuring photojournalism, photography, graphic design, digital media design and fine art produced by members of the graduating class and are grouped by major. Seniors in the College’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program are responsible for all aspects of their thesis exhibitions from exhibition design to installation to promotion – an experience vital to the students’ professional and artistic development.

“We are lucky to be able to host the College’s Senior Thesis exhibitions within the beautiful galleries of the Corcoran Gallery of Art for all the museum patrons to enjoy. This is truly one of the many ways the college and museum maximize the unique and valuable partnership we offer our students,” said Corcoran College of Art + Design’s Dean Christina DePaul. “Artists engage the world through conventional and unconventional means, to document the news of the day, to convey the emotion of another human being, to access unknown worlds and new adventures and even to alter our viewpoint and our space. I am very proud that each year the students’ work gets more cutting-edge, thoughtful and challenging as it showcases a culmination of four years of intensive study, exploration and creativity.”

The individual shows then culminate in mid-May in the All Senior Exhibition, a dynamic exhibition representing all disciplines and featuring work by every student in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs.
