Global technology provider to outfit the College’s computer labs to support Photojournalism and Portfolio Development Programs for High School Students

WASHINGTON, DC – The Corcoran College of Art + Design (CCA+D) is pleased to announce acceptance of an in-kind equipment donation, including a wide range of award-winning professional printers, scanners and projectors, from Epson America, Inc. This gift will significantly benefit the more than 400 students who participate each year in College’s intensive Pre-College Portfolio Development and FOCUS on Photojournalism summer programs.

“The fields of photography and design are constantly evolving and becoming more technologically savvy each day. Epson is known for its ground-breaking digital imaging products and these advanced technological tools have become the gold standard in the arts field,” said Dean Christina DePaul, Corcoran College of Art + Design. “The new high-tech lab equipment will enable our students to have a top-notch experience and produce their best creative work. I am truly grateful to Epson America for the generous donation to the College.”

The Pre-College Portfolio Development program is designed to prepare students for college admission in the fields of fine art, design and photography. The program combines intensive drawing classes; concentrated electives in painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, digital arts or digital animation; open studios; art history lectures and tours; evening workshops; and individual portfolio reviews.

In tandem with the Pre-College programs, the College also hosts a two-week residential FOCUS on Photojournalism program. FOCUS offers students the opportunity to enhance their photography skills while exploring the world of photojournalism in the nation’s capital. Award-winning photographers from the White House News Photographers’ Association provide students with an exciting look at the principles and practice of their trade.

“We recognize in today’s world, graphic design and photography are highly dependent on digital technology,” said Kelly Pierce, Manager, Community Relations, Epson America, Inc. “Epson takes great pride in supporting noteworthy programs that benefit educational and arts-focused organizations and we believe the Corcoran provides an ideal training ground for a future generation of artists, designers and photojournalists.”
