CORCORAN GALLERY OF ART PRESENTS
53rd ANNUAL CORCORAN BALL
FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Board of Trustees and the Women’s Committee of the Corcoran Gallery of Art present the 53rd annual Corcoran Ball on Friday, April 18, 2008. More than 1,000 guests are expected to attend this elegant and festive event. Attendees of this year’s Ball will enjoy the Corcoran’s special exhibition, The American Evolution: A History through Art, on view through July 27, 2008.

“ It is an honor to chair such a fabulous event, and one that benefits the Corcoran—Washington’s oldest and largest private art museum and only college of art and design,” said Nancy Smith, 2008 Corcoran Ball Chair. “As we celebrate the Corcoran and our own American collection, we are ever grateful for the generous support of EADS North America, our underwriter for the Ball, as well as our many other supporters from the Washington community and beyond. We are looking forward to a delightful evening of dinner, dancing and sharing our wonderful museum and its exhibitions with our guests.”

The Corcoran’s black-tie benefit begins with cocktails at 7 p.m. followed by a seated dinner at 8:15 p.m. The décor will be presented by Jack Lucky Floral Designs, dinner by Occasions Catering and dancing to the music of The Michael Carney Orchestra and Phil McCusker & Orchestra. MSE Productions will provide a strolling string quartet.

Each year, the Women’s Committee of the Corcoran is involved intimately in both the design and set-up of up to 15 uniquely decorated rooms at the Gallery, ensuring harmonization of décor with the art on view. The themes and menu remain a closely guarded secret until the night of the event.

Proceeds from the 53rd annual Corcoran Ball benefit the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design. The funds raised by the Ball remain an essential component of the Corcoran’s annual operating budget. Proceeds fund Gallery and College programs and activities, including special exhibitions, scholarships for students, restoration projects, art acquisitions, educational outreach and technology advancement.
