The Corcoran Contemporaries (“Contemporaries”) are the museum’s invaluable volunteer arm. Each year this dynamic group of contemporary art collectors and enthusiasts makes a significant contribution to the institution by raising funds for the contemporary art gallery at the Corcoran. The Contemporaries also help hundreds of people gain a new appreciation for and understanding of contemporary art by supporting exhibitions and sponsoring significant programs related to contemporary culture. Each year, the Corcoran Contemporaries host a variety of Contemporary Evenings and Contemporary Views. These programs allow Members exclusive access to private home and institutional collections and the opportunity to socialize with major collectors and curators. And throughout the year, Corcoran Contemporaries have access to special educational and cultural programs such as studio and gallery visits, lectures and gallery talks, and trips. All of this is in addition to the great benefits Corcoran membership already offers: unlimited free admission to temporary and permanent exhibitions, guest passes, discounts at Café des Artistes and the Corcoran Shop, reduced fees for Continuing Education classes at the Corcoran College of Art + Design, and a complimentary subscription to Night & Day, as well as to Member E-News.
