BPW Tour of the Danish Ambassador's Residence
Friday, December 04, 2009  5 - 6 p.m.
The Corcoran is pleased to invite Members of the Business and Professional Women of the Corcoran to a private tour of the Danish Ambassador's Residence featuring a special collaboration between Corcoran design students and Danish design students.
About the Collaboration
Students from the Corcoran College of Art + Design are collaborating with two Danish students from the Danish School of Design to decorate the Residence using only sustainable materials. This "theme" has been chosen because of the upcoming UN climate change summit, the COP15, which Copenhagen is hosting in December 2009.
About the Residence
The Danish Ambassador's Residence is a fantastic example of Modern Scandinavian design. It was designed by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1947 and officially opened in 1960, becoming the first modern Embassy building in Washington, D.C.
Registration is required and space is limited for your enjoyment. BPW Members at the Dual level and above may register for two to attend the tour. Please click here to RSVP.
If you are interested in joining the BPW and attending this event, please visit www.corcoran.org/BPW or call (202) 639-1753 for more information.

James Rosenquist: Painting Below Zero Special Contemporaries Rate
Tuesday, December 15, 2009  7 p.m.
Corcoran Contemporaries: $12
Corcoran Members: $15
Public: $20
The Corcoran is pleased to offer its Corcoran Contemporaries Members a special rate to this exciting contemporary art public program.
One of the most iconic pop artists of our time, James Rosenquist revolutionized twentieth-century painting. In conversation with Paul Greenhalgh, director and president, Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design, Rosenquist recalls his days as a student at the Art Students League in New York, describes his experiences hanging high over Broadway as a sign painter, and the inspiration behind his large paintings full of brilliant colors and surreally juxtaposed images. Rosenquist has captured his story in the memoir Painting Below Zero: Notes on a Life in Art (Knopf, October 2009), a unique look inside the contemporary art world by one of its most important painters. A book signing follows the talk.
