Waterscapes
Saturday, December 19, 2009 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Be dazzled by sparkling patterns on water as you tour the exhibition Sargent and the Sea. Discover why the subject of water has intrigued artists such as John Singer Sargent for centuries as you spot colors and patterns on a glassy lake, a winding river, or a wavy ocean. Following your tour, dry off in the art studio as you paint daubs of color onto canvas to create your own waterscape. Workshops are limited to children ages 8–12 and their adult companions. Re-entry to the permanent collection after the workshop is permitted at no additional fee. (Workshop fees can be applied to the cost of a Family Membership.) Space is limited and advanced registration is required. To register by phone, please call (202) 639-1770. Admission tickets are required only for the child participating. Tickets are not required for adult chaperones.
