The staff at the Corcoran Gallery of Art wants to ensure that your visit with
us is a pleasant and safe one. We are dedicated to the preservation of our
collection as well as those exhibitions that travel to us. We are also committed
to the visitor experience and want you to return to visit our future exhibitions.
In order to enhance your visit with us we have several guidelines
to assist you in your planning process. These guidelines are similar
to those found in the majority of museums world-wide.
• Oversized bags, backpacks, and rear-facing child carriers
must be left with Security upon entry to the Gallery. Strollers
are permitted.
• Flash photography is never permitted; photography is
not permitted in special exhibition galleries and limited in our
Permanent Collection galleries. These guidelines also pertain
to the use of cell phone cameras.
• Sending or receiving cell phone calls is discouraged
in the galleries. It is disruptive to other visitors viewing the
exhibitions. Please use the Atrium area for these calls.
• Food and beverages are permitted within the Café and
Coffee Bar areas only. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.
• Only pets tagged and related to special needs persons
are permitted in the Gallery. They must be leashed at all times.
• Special needs persons (wheelchairs, walkers, heavy strollers,
etc.) are encouraged to make advanced arrangement for facility
access by calling (202) 639-1793. It is not mandatory that you
do so, but calling ahead will enable us to assist you more efficiently.
• For information about sketching in the galleries, please
contact the curatorial department at (202) 639-1841.
• Please check our website prior to your visit to confirm
our hours of operation, exhibitions on view, holiday hours, special
programming, and any special pricing related to traveling exhibitions
we may be hosting during your visit.
Thank you for visiting the Corcoran Gallery of Art. We hope that
you will enjoy your visit and welcome any comments you may have.
